Year at a Glance

The real arc of the year, month by month, straight from the class calendar. Dates shift slightly each year; the calendar posted in Canvas always wins.

August

Introduction + EOC A Skills

Norms, stakeholders, the All in One Sheet, and Key Definitions in week 1. Then straight into EOC A: Question 1, line of reasoning, and credibility evaluation, ending the month with a full 60-minute EOC A practice.

September

Presentation Skills + Practice IRR Begins

What makes a strong presentation, peer feedback skills, and weekly practice presentations. The research engine starts: lenses, crafting a strong research question, the Source Tracker, group contracts, and the Practice IRR.

October

Practice IRR Due + Practice TMP

Peer review week, then the Practice IRR is due mid-month. TMP work time takes over, and the month closes with practice TMP presentations. These dress rehearsals are why the real PT1 feels familiar.

November

The Official IRR Begins

The real IRR launches with dedicated work periods. Source Tracker due mid-month, and the scored EOC A exam lands in the gradebook. Holiday break closes the month.

December

IRR Rough Draft + College Board Checkpoint

Rough draft due in week 1, IRR peer feedback, the first EOC B mini quiz, TMP work time, and the College Board checkpoint where the IRR is submitted. Finals week is the EOC A final.

January

Official TMP + Stimulus Release

Library practice presentations, then the real TMP presentations. College Board releases the stimulus packet mid-month: exploration begins, alongside the EOC B lecture and first EOC B practice.

February

IRR Upload + IWA Drafting Begins

IRR uploads in class. Stimulus packet group presentations, the mind map and question spreadsheet activities, EOC B #1, and by month's end you are drafting the IWA with your Source Tracker due.

March

IWA Done + IMP Begins

Full IWA work periods, outline due in week 1, EOC A #1, then peer review and the IWA is DONE and DUE mid-month. The IMP starts immediately after, with work periods through the end of the month.

April

IMP Presentations + Portfolio Upload

Library practice days and EOC B #2 before spring break. Then three straight weeks of IMP presentation days, the IRR upload day, and the FINAL day to upload everything to College Board in class. Portfolio due April 30, 8:59 PM Pacific.

May

The Exam + The Victory Lap

EOC A and EOC B Tips and Tricks, exam day logistics, then the AP Seminar Exam on May 11 (snacks in Mrs. Cohen's room before). After: the final argument paper, the final project, and the pizza party AP celebration.

June

Final Project Presentations

Final project presentations across all periods close out the year.
